Winners of the 2009 Most Romantic Elderly Couple Competition, Anne and Michael Doyle, 74 and 80. Anne and Michael are from Finglas and have been married 55 years. They have five children and fourteen grandchildren. SENIOR CITIZENS MARCH ON DAIL EIREANN - Fifteen thousand senior citizens expressed their anger at the government's attempt to means test the free medical card for the over 70's. Their attendance at a protest rally at Dail Eireann, organized by the Irish Senior Citizens Parliament on Thursday 22 October 2008 resulted in the proposal being withdrawn. An outstanding victory for Ireland's senior citizens. Friends of the Elderly are proud to have played their part.

Jackie Charlton with 95 year old Tom Kerrerick from Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland's Oldest Fisherman. Tom qualified for the World Cup Trout Angling Championship on the 3 August 2009 after trying for 60 years.
